August 2025's Monthly Make!

In a fabric godmother Riviera Linen viscose mix we sell here at New Forest Sewing Studio https://www.newforestsewingstudio.co.uk/product-page/riviera-viscose-linen-midnight-by-fabric-godmother

This is a very versatile pattern, I made version B with the cap sleeves and the bow at the centre back, and I feel would look amazing made up in cotton sateen for a wedding or equally the sleeveless version in a light weight denim for an every day dress.

The pattern is defined as an intermediate to advanced make and I feel that is correct having a two piece collar design. The instructions are concise but clear throughout and the pattern pieces are clearly marked with notches to align the princess seams etc. Modifications I made following a toile were a 2cm full bust adjustment, dropping the bust point by 1cm and lengthening the dress by 10cm, which I was surprised at as I am only 5ft 2" in height. The binding on the armscye (armhole) of the garment is a very neat finish, and the hem facing makes for a nice wide hem on a curved hem.

I did a YouTube sew-along on our YouTube channel - link below:

So for September 2025 I will be making the Papercut Patterns Capelia Cardi in our AGF Deep Dark Ocean Jersey Knit fabric. This is a perfect transitional pattern for the following months as a layering piece in your wardrobe.
